Hey, let me just say that tftc rules, I really appreciate the work you guys put in to update one of my favorite games ever!
Anyway, how's progress coming on the remaining battles?
Also, are there plans on changing the selectable craft in the combat chamber to the imperial craft?
thanks!

Coming along slowly but surely. Most of us are really busy with real life stuff, but there are some hurdles also trying to figure out, like how to get SLAM engine feature to work with Imperial missleboat, and other things....
You should already be able to use the Imperial craft selection when doing skirmish battles. If reflying historic missions, that's either just the game engine limitation, or there "might" be something that can be done with AlliED utility on the mission file. Look into it later.

Well, i haven't played this conversion yet, i just found out about it myself, i am very impressed and the protection is pretty handy, which should keep you from getting drowned in lawsuits. I would prefer a seperate game from LA, but i doubt that will happen. I think you should put the real life issues first, cause you have done the main game and congrats for doing that.

Putting the SLAMS on the MissileBoat is no easy task. If wasn't there in the code to begin with, it may be impossible.
I must say, good luck.

If implenting SLAMS into XWA fails, I recommend to implent it via trainer. If this also fails, I have another idea: What do you think about doubling the Misile boats's maximum speed?

To answer one of the initial questions, there are indeed limitations to the ability to have selectable Imperial Craft in the Combat Simulator for the completed Campaign missions... That limitation being you would only be allowed to select from 4 (5? Can't remember) craft... So, even if you did change the Craft Location in the Species file (via MXvTed) eg. Interceptor to X-Wing Slot, Bomber - Y-Wing Slow, Avenger to A-Wing slot and B-Wing to Gunboat slot, that would still leave 3 Imperial Craft you wouldn't be able to access...
As for implementing SLAM drives... Could a possible solution not be (I'm just getting back into X-Wing Alliance after a very long hiatus, mostly due to not having a J-Stick) using a quick key to throwing all laser power to engines (I'm pretty sure there is a feature to map this) and multiply the speed increase by three? I'm 'pretty' sure this is possible to do with some minor changes in MxVted... Though that doesn't help in addressing the 'cut off' for it...
All the same, absolutely stupendous work on the conversion, I'm very much enjoying it (though I did return the targetting reticule to the XWA original... hehe... Obscured too much of the nice view).
