Hi.
Very glad to see the TFTC finally released!
Have a question though:
Are the missions IDENTICAL to the original TIE Fighter versions?
Or have they been rebalanced to take account of the XWA game engine?
For example:
Attacking capital ships is nearly always far more difficult in XWA than it was in TIE Fighter, due to cap ships being able to shoot down warheads.
One way to partially compensate for this problem would be to set the AI level of every single capital ship flight group in every single mission to Rookie. That way, although they still shoot at warheads, they miss some of them.
Another way is to have more attacking bombers, as in the XWA missions - increasing flight group size to 6 could be an easy way to do this.
Have the missions been tweaked in this way? Or are they absolutely original?
If they haven't been tweaked, I'm willing to volunteer to do the work myself.

I personally have not had time to play or test them, but I believe Linx and Ol converted the missions (or rewrote them) to balance the game engine. Also, I don't think the raw .tie files will even work correctly since it's a different format for a different game engine. You might e-mail Ol.

I have played some of the missions on the hard difficulty and it's ...well...impossible.
The XWA engine was just not suited for the TIE Fighter missions. You would need to set it on easy if you wanted to beat the whole thing (I heard you can still get General though) . This is my only complaint as I completed all of TIE Fighter on the hard difficulty settings (including both of the expansions) and when I play the hard difficulty on this, it becomes impossible. And the easy difficulty just isn't rewarding on the inside.
But it's still a d**n good conversion. The missions just need to be tweaked a bit.

I decided to post this here rather than make a new thread since it fits the subject.
After reading through this forum I have noticed that there still seem to be a lot of balance issues with the missions that need to be fixed, but also that a lot of improvements have already been made to TFTC since version 1.0. So my question is if you have any plans to release an updated version of the battles 1-7? The battles 8-13 still seem to be several years away so an update before that would definitely be nice. I'm the kind of person that rather wait for the final product than play something that's still in development, so if work is still being done that affects the battles 1-7 I'll wait to play them until they're "ready", but on the other hand I'd really like to play them soon and not wait several years for it.
Thanks for your time and all your excellent work on TFTC and XWAU. I know the games and mods might not be that important when compared to a lot of RL-issues, so take all the time you need. I just wanted to remind you that you do bring a lot of joy to people like me and that I (or we) greatly appreciate your work of bringing classic games to a new level.

Thanks, yes I'd like to look at B 1-->7. I still have never played them yet, but I think there's always room for improvement and make things more fun and realistic, and maybe add opts etc.
