Is there any special way to beat mission four of the first battle? Have tried many times but it is near impossible that assault frigate just doesn't have the strength and I can't catch every torpedo that's fired at it - is that really the only way to win? To shoot down every single torp? I've grown a particular dislike for escort shuttles

The cheat-sheet way is to maybe just use AlliED utility and change the FRG's status to Top Ace or Jedi....

What I did is change the shield rate and hull rate of M/FRG via MXvTED, can download it from DS site www.darksaber.gaylenol.com/tutmxvted.html The original setting is just too low, couple missile blast will bring it down. By the way, if you have trouble opening tftc missions by AlliED, please unchech "read only" tag on file property.

The mission is possible on medium difficulty, however it took me some hours. The trick is to turn round right at the beginning and completely ignore both the escort shuttles and the transports, but to tell your wingmen to attack the transports. when the fighters arrive, you should be close enaugh to attack them at once before they can do much damage, but it still needs some luck with this tactics.
Am I the only one to wonder why your allied (imperial) ships never manage to shoot down those bloody torpedoes but any ship you try to attack catches almost every single one of them making it impossible to score any bonus points???

I'm still having trouble with audio, but decided to play TFTC, anyway. I popped on to see if anyone else was having trouble with this mission. If I don't take on the assault shuttles, the X-Wings and Y-Wings take out the frigate. If I don't intercept the torpedoes from the X-Wings and Y-Wings, the assault shuttles take out the frigate. I can't be everywhere at once! I'll try your way...do you need to inspect the cargo container first to put things in motion?

No, I don't think so. I'm not sure I inspected the containers at all till the very end. Use your wingmen to attack the transports. If you ignore the escort shuttles (which are all too likely to kill you anyway) and head in the direction where the fighters emerge from hyperspace you can prevent them from firing torpedoes. The frigate can deal with the escort shuttles since they don't have warheads. Still you need a bit of luck, a lot depends on how sucessful your wingmen and the other fighters are on destroying the transports, but you can only pray for that - the fighters pose the more dangerous thread and as you say, you can't be everywhere at once. Keep me informed on your progress.

Thanks for the tip. I was having a hell of a time with this one and almost gave up. Do a 180 at the beginning of the mission and fly towards where the fighters exit from hyperspace. Ignore the A-wings and take out the Y-wings first with missiles, then the X-wings. Be careful to watch for additional waves and take them out before they fire torpedoes. Order wingmen to attack the transports and escort shuttles and call for reinforcements if you want a little extra help. Once the fighters are destroyed zoom back to the frigate and help take out the remaining shuttles. Using these tactics I was able to finish with 74% shields on the frigate on hard difficulty.
