Wondering if the "c-o-c-k-p-i-t" settings and resolutions might have something to do with this? Also might be a good idea to look at all files (and references) that are related to the Assault Gunboat opt, even the ship settings and stats within the executable, both before installing TFTC and then after for comparisons etc. Got to be something obvious that being overlooked..... Can use B.H.E. and AlliED editor. Also check the mission file. Make sure the Player's flight Group is spaced less than or = to "6" and that some FG formations don't always work. i.e. VIC vs High-X, Echelon Right etc.

Never mind, something we'll look into. In mean time, see if you can play without using the TFTC launcher...just to test...but you might want to use a new pilot file from scratch.

Hi,
I'm experiencing precisely the same problem - game crashes after the hyperspace jump at the start of the first gunboat mission.
Here's my system info:
WinXP Pro Athlon64 3700 1 gig ram Geforce 7800 GT
XWA: UK version, latest patch
Tie Fighter: Collectors CD, UK version
I installed XWA, then patched it, then installed TFTC with the 1600 res option.
Hope that helps!
Edit: Installing the gunboat from the XWAUpdate page fixed the problem.

Same problem here as well. I had a clean XWA installation (UK version), then patched to the latest version. Installed TFTC and played until the first gunboat mission. The game crashed during hyperspace, so I installed the XWAUP Gunboat and managed to hyperspace into the system with the Rebel cruiser. Then it crashed again. Looks like the XWAUP patch just moved the traffic jam further down the road Update: This time I tried waiting before hyperspacing to the combat area. Crashed while I was sitting still in the starting area, so it's possibly not to do with hyperspacing? Was in the lowest possible graphics settings as well. Latest Update: I tried it this morning and it crashed again. However, then I tried doing a skirmish, choosing a gunboat as my craft. Fought my way through that, then tried to do the mission again and it worked fine. So did the second gunboat mission. So I'm sorted now too.

Tonight I tried what stooj had done. I played a skirmish as the gunboat, then I went back into the actual gunboat battle and all worked great. No crashing after hyperspace. Thanks stooj for the idea.

Hello all,
This is my first post here. I am greatly enjoying the TFTC mod so far but I am experiencing the problem listed here. I have installed the latest GUN from xwaup and I tried playing a skirmish first, but I am still crashing after exiting hyperspace. Any suggestions??

Hello again,
I have solved the problem above by shutting down my computer for the night and attempting to play the gunboat level the next day. Apparently there was something porked in RAM I guess. Anyhow, the problem is fixed.
Cheers,

I've begun playing TFTC recently, and have run into this problem as well. I've tried all the listed suggestions so far except uninstalling/reinstalling. I wanted to ask about something first before I did that. I tried to open the mission in Allied, but none of the TFTC missions open correctly. They only seem to open into a new, blank mission. The original missions are all still listed and open fine, just not the TFTC ones. Is there something I need to do to get the missions opened correctly? I have some ideas about what might be causing the problem, but it's impossible to figure out when I can't look at the mission. Thanks. ---------------------------------- Ah-ha. A further search indicates that most of the TFTC mission files are set as read only. I'll check tonight to see if I can undo that to access them.

I think I sort-of figures out what was causing the crashing issue. After switching the mission file from read-only I was able to edit them. I had noticed that the crash always seemed to come about 30-32 seconds into the mission (regardless of when I jumped to hyperspace) so I started looking for ships that arrived at that point. I couldn't find anything that exactly matched up, but I did notice some Rebel fighter squadrons that arrived in that time frame, but they were labeled as only showing up on the Hard difficulty (Iplay on Medium). I ended up deleting all the FG's labeled as Hard, and after that the mission worked fine, though it was too easy as only one X-Wing FG actually showed up. With some more testing I could probably narrow it down to one FG causing the problem (one particular FG's arrival conditions are set as "<Hard", which is a setting I haven't seen much. Perhaps it's that one). If I do find it, I'll post the info.

Thanks Cirlin. Yes, the M.F. were set to read only so they would stay intact. My guess too ... there is a conflict with one or more conditional strings/goals. And it could be anywhere. Using AlliEd, and if you have the time, make backup copies of the mission file, then systematically test and remove one thing at a time until you find the issue. You'll sometimes notice that FG's may have extra orders in the other Regions 2, 3, & 4 which are redundant or are not needed. Flight formations may be wrong too and the spacing between craft. etc.
