Before I start, I wanted to thank you for bringing back THE greatest game of my life - as tie95 fails to detect joystick on my PC, it's been few years since I could fly a tie. Best measure of my appreciation of your work is, I could not set it aside to register here and describe shortcomings I experienced until I've beaten the thing! So this post may be lengthy. Oh, I'm playing english XWA, upgraded only with TFTC and main game patch that came with it.
Game crash bugs:
If player start to enter combat chamber with new pilot account, game crashes. I went to see if you had made historical missions first thing and experienced this error. I think it's because game tried to access missions I already accomplished and found none; XWA had no such problem as combat chamber was availiable only after completing prequel campaign.
A suggestion: make a prequel campaign that each new pilot profile has marked as already completed during creation? Old T/F historical missions would make obvious candidate, single mission prequel campaign retelling The Stele Chronicles (single T/I having to save an admiral's dhuttle from rebel ambush) would be climatic.
Game crashing in very beginning of B1M4 has been described here already, but I had it experienced in B5M4 too (first Tie Advanced mission). Both bugs happened only once.
Game-impending bugs:
In battle 3, mission 5 transport that was supposed to capture rebel shuttle (Electra?) kept crashing into it and destroying it; as shuttle had to be captured, it made mission impassable for me; I had to skip the mission.
In battle 2, mission 4 there was no hyperbuy back home at end of the mission. It can be bypassed by Q key, but still...
In battle 5, mission 4 when I completed the mission there were multiple targetable hyperbuys, including green rebel ones. I think for some reason all hyperbuys in the area became visible to player. Some of them did not work (hiting space bar did nothing), which may make mission difficult for someone who just dodged enemy T/A to flee home...
Minor bugs and gripes
For some reason, ranks of Captain and Commander have been switched; I was first promoted to Commander, next "promotion" reduced me in rank to Captain.
In Battle 4, Mission 4 players T/I is supopsed to carry some missles; it is not.
Inability to select warheads in first campaigns makes them differ from original game for no visible purpose. Especially in Tie Bomber missions (Bombers suffered most in translation to XWA, fixing them with single warhead type makes Bomber missions even more difficult), which are now really challenging.
Rebel debriefing audio for XWA can often be heard when Tie Fighter debriefing is over.
